In Genesis 12 we read that Abram came to the land of Canaan as God had told him. When you compare the end of Genesis 11 and Genesis 12 with Acts 7:2-4, you will see that the God of glory appeared to Abram and gave him a charge, but Abram didn’t totally obey. You will also see that God did not tell Abram anything else until he obeyed what God told him at first. This is a lesson for us all. We will have very little advancement in our understanding of scripture if we do not obey the truth we already know. Our study and obedience to what God says must coincide. The Lord Jesus later said that if a man was willing to do, he would know of the doctrine.
